The magic of lemon

Hydration is quite literally the most important part of our day to day lives. The quality of the water you are drinking is extremely important and probably not considered enough for most people, but that's a whole other topic. Let’s just put it out there-- water can be BORING! If you don’t like drinking water because of it’s unexciting flavor profile you are not alone. This is no reason to stop drinking it all together, and that’s why we suggest adding some lemon! Yes, it makes a yummy and more interesting drink, but it also has amazing health benefits. Grab some organic lemons, warm up some water, and get drinking!

We like to drink a warm cup of lemon water every morning upon waking up. You will get the most benefits by drinking it on an empty stomach. It’s a nice alternative in the morning to your morning cup of tea, or just an added step to your morning routine. Drinking it before each meal is also amazing for the digestive system. In reality though, you can drink lemon water whenever you remember or have time. It tastes good and it is extremely hydrating so if squeezing some lemon into your water bottle will make you want to drink it more, we highly recommend it.

Lemon water is so simple yet so efficient. First of all if you suffer from acid reflux or are nervous about getting acid reflux from drinking lemon water, don't worry! It actually does the opposite. When we drink lemon water, it actually works to decrease acidity in the body - if needed. It works to balance the pH in the body and maintain healthy levels. Lemons are also very high in vitamins and antioxidants. They are especially high in vitamin C, drinking lemon water will help to boost your immune system. Along with an immune system boost, lemon water is anti inflammatory-- especially for sore throats and inflammation of the tonsils, so it’s a great beverage to sip on when feeling under the weather. Lemon water also helps kick start our digestion which is why it’s great to drink every morning on an empty stomach and before meals if you can remember! If you suffer from bowel movement issues we suggest trying lemon water. It could help things get moving. Lemon water has even shown to act as a liver cleanser. It sends signals to the liver to clean out toxins.

There are so many amazing benefits to drinking lemon water as you can see. It is so simple to make, and a much healthier alternative to staying hydrated and getting extra electrolytes in instead of drinking other sports drinks. Drinking it warm is a bonus, but if you’re running low on time just grab a lemon and squeeze it into some water and you will be on your way. No excuses!
