Do not Disturb

Life is distracting, very distracting. Unless we set the boundaries the technology vortex will pull us in further and further. We’ve all been there, we have a thought, we grab our phone, we open it up, we then get distracted with other notifications, 30 minutes goes by and we forgot about why we picked up our phone. Commit to your self-care practice by using DND, do not disturb.

There will always be things to do and ways to entertain our senses. Trust that your time of self-care is worth more time spent using technology. Create boundaries with your relationship to giant world of tech, go to settings in your phone and put on screen time monitors, this will physically stop you from using apps past the time you set. For example, screen time on social media, set it to 1 hour everyday. Spend more time with yourself, family, nature, friends and habits that feel like an investment in love and joy.

Also, go to settings and turn notifications OFF. You won’t miss a thing you're still going to use the apps, what’s different is that your focus stays on the task and doesn’t get distracted by every notification coming in. Technology and applications are on 24/7 and their job is to keep us pulled in, it is up to us to create a healthy relationship with it all. You will start to become aware of how things make you feel, for example noticing if you get anxious using a certain app, or feel excited using another one. Pause and disconnect to connect.
